Tiffany Miniature Box Suitcase Karel Bartosik Sterling Silver & 18 K Gold

Description
A Tiffany & Co. Sterling silver miniature suitcase pill box designed and made by Karel Bartosik. Signed Tiffany & Co., KTB and London Hallmarks for sterling silver and 18 k gold, c. 1989. The detailed sterling box is miniature replica of a suitcase, with its surface embossed to look like leather and embellished with 18 k gold used to represent the suitcase's straps and handle. The handle even moves! It functions as a beautiful pill box or trinket box to hold jewelry or other small items. Absolutely incredible workmanship. Although Bartosik was born in England of Czech and Dutch parents, he lived in Czechoslovakia from 1946 to 1967. When he moved back to England he worked for Andrew Grima in London and later had his own studio while teaching at the Royal College of Art. His work is represented at the Victoria and Albert Museum, South Kensington, London.
