Description
A Magnificent and Large Pair of Silvered Bronze "Alhambra" Moorish Vases, by Tiffany Studios, New York.
Inspired by the medieval Spanish Nasrid, or "Alhambra," vases dating from the 13th to 15th centuries, this exceptional pair draws influence from the stunning decorative ceramics of southern Spain, particularly those found in the Alhambra. These amphora-like vases feature the signature wing-like handles, which were originally designed not for function but to provide greater surface area for intricate decoration. The surfaces of both vases are lavishly adorned with detailed motifs including foliage, arabesques, arabic calligraphy, and animal figures, showcasing the rich ornamental traditions of Islamic art.
Cast in silvered bronze, these vases embody the artistry and opulence of the period, blending historical design with Tiffany Studios’ renowned skill in metalwork. A striking addition to any collection, these vases offer a captivating fusion of Islamic heritage and American artistic craftsmanship.
