Description
Dating from the mid-1920s, this Tiffany Favrile Glass Paperweight Vase is a particularly fine example of the art glass produced by Tiffany Studios in their later years when the glassblowing facilities were under the management of Leslie Nash, son of Arthur Nash, the first glass chemist employed by Louis Comfort Tiffany.
The body of the vase is formed by transparent glass accented by subtle interior iridescence which results in a silvery effect in reflected light.
A motif of large flowers in variegated lavender and purple spreads across the rounded body of the vase, surrounded by coiling and intertwining thin vines and large round leaves with pointed tips in complementary shades of green. This stylized floral decoration is cased in a thick layer of clear glass, causing the motif to appear to float above the shimmering background.
This rare example of Tiffany Favrile Glass is inscibed on the underside with signature and date code.
