Description
Tlingit lidded basket
twined out of spruce root, natural and maidenhair fern (dark color) and synthetic dye (red)
6” diameter x 6 1/2” high
overall good condition. Knob and 1 stitch are missing from the lid, splits in lid have been stabilized and 2 stitches are missing from the body of the basket.

This basket has enormous charm in spite of its missing its knob. The shape and patina suggest an early date and the basket still has strength in its design and use of materials. The design is called “bear tracks”. -
