Description
American, late 19th century
Carved and turned wood, black paint and gilt.
Condition: Excellent, original paint, gilt lettering and highlights. Minor imperfections.
This double-sided trade sign has survived in a remarkable state of preservation. The sign is affixed to a baluster on one side with turned acorn finials. The shaped black-painted and gilt frame surrounds the gilt lettering against a black field along with a representation of an artist’s palette.
