Victorian Staffordshire Pottery Bust of Plato
-
Description
Staffordshire Pottery bust with a classical theme which features the Greek philosopher Plato, resting on a square base. Maker's marks 'ENOCH WOOD', impressed to underside. N.B - The Enoch Wood mark on this piece is something of a mystery. The model has all attributes that would suggest a date of 1850-1860, which is after Enoch Wood's known production finished. I can't say any more, other than the modelling and decoration is of high standard.
