Yaka Seer Stool

$ 1,080
  • Description
    The Yaka people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo used stools to emulate their more favored arts, masks and figural fetishes. Consequently, the distinctive drum form base and seat were frequently bisected by figures and faces, such as the double-sided face seen in this stool. Hand-carved from a single piece of wood, the stool's two faces, incised rope motifs, and nail-studded surface combine for a unique sculptural presence. // Depth: 6.5"
