In this refined sculpture, Yves Pagart suggests the peaceful presence of the manatee, a marine mammal emblematic of tropical waters. Reduced to a few essential lines, the form slips between abstraction and figuration: an elongated body, a sketched fin, a barely marked gaze.
The patinated zinc gives the surface a mineral and organic vibration, evoking both the animal’s skin and the memory of the seabed. True to his sculptural language, Pagart transforms the metallic sheet into a silent, almost archaic presence, where the softness of the curves dialogues with the density of the material.

Yves Pagart’s work is characterized by the manipulation of metal—bending, cutting, rolling, and smoothing steel sheets—to create sculptural furniture that often draws inspiration from the natural world.
