1900s Persian Sultanabad Beige, Blue, Brown, Pink and Red Rug (Size Adjusted)

$ 55,000
  • Description
    The main field of this Sultanabad rug, made circa 1900, is occupied by an allover botanical grid with palmettes, herati, and flower motifs. This design is enclosed within a series of borders kept in a similar vein, the main of which exhibits further stylized florals, palmettes and meandering flowering climbers. The color palette features beige, brown, pink and red.

    As befits an antique rug from Persia, this one is distinguished by excellent workmanship. It was carefully knotted by hand of high-quality wool thanks to which it looks like new despite its old age. Provided it is cared for properly, the rug will serve its owners for generations without any signs of wear.
