Description
Antique Turkish rugs have the capacity to amaze even the finest of contemporary artisans. The antique Turkish Oushak rug before your eyes is a fabulous example of this absolutely timeless craft. The piece exhibits very traditional Oriental aesthetics. Both the truly imposing main field and the series of consecutive borders are kept in the same spirit with botanical and geometric motifs, featuring slightly angular palmettes and protective symbols such as Goz or Haç. Moreover, the borders flaunt flowering climbers and flowing lines that may refer to the Middle-Eastern representation of the running water. Everything is rendered in a well-balanced and elegant color palette of mauve, beige and brown that will seamlessly match a wide array of décors, from classic to contemporary.
Made with care and diligence of natural qualitative materials, including hand-dyed wool, by a patient artisan, the piece distinguishes itself by durability and longevity. The rug managed to survive until this day in excellent condition with minor signs of abrasion that add even more character to it. If properly cared for, the Turkish carpet will show no signs of wear for many years of satisfying service. -
