19th Century Turkish Ghiordes Light Brown Handwoven Wool Rug

$ 38,000
  • Description
    A late 19th century Turkish Ghiordes rugs, the light brown field with repeated primitive geometric leaf motifs around a stepped medallion containing Anatolian floral motifs and a floral centerpiece, within a caramel angular flowering vine border. Since the beginning of their production in the 18th century, from the Anatolian town, Ghiordes have mostly been known for their rectilinear, colorful, multi-bordered antique prayer patterns. Ghiordes often have open fields with mihrabs or hanging lamps and stylized architectural motifs that are found on sixteenth and seventeenth century Ottoman court rugs.
