Description
Although in reference to Far-Asian weaving we hear mostly about Chinese Deco rugs, there are other, more native styles that deserve wider recognition. This antique Chinese Mongolian rug is a genuine piece of traditional craft that impresses not only with size but also its distinctly oriental design.
The main field is relatively spare, featuring a geometric central medallion, scattered floral motifs and corner spandrels. It is enclosed within a series of borders, main of which carries a classic fret motif that prevails in the entire composition. The last of the borders is adorned with a simple flower-head pattern that adds delicacy to the angular arrangement. Everything is executed in a muted color palette of beige, dark brown and teal that will easily match a wide variety of décors, bringing in warmth and elegance.
This antique Chinese Mongolian rug was made in the 19th century but due to the thorough hand-making of wool in accordance with traditional techniques it has managed to remain in great shape until present. If properly maintained, this pride of antique rugs from China will serve many years without any signs of wear, exuding its exotic charm. -
