Description
The brisk red field displays an allover, three column design incorporating up and down ragged palmettes, blue forked arabesques and copious sprays of small ivory flowers. The royal blue abrashed border features larger petal palmettes reversed with lesser palmettes, and integrated by a rough acanthus split arabesque meander. The carpet is double wefted, indicating that it emanates from a high quality workshop in the Chahar Mahal weaving area, perhaps in Shal Mazar. Medium weave. Saturated palette. Good condition.
