Antique Persian Kirman Beige Handmade Wool Rug (Size Adjusted)

This early 20th century antique Kirman carpet from Southeast Persia features an all-over design of scattered floral sprays and bird imagery in inky blue and light beige against a field of abrashed sand. A sand floral spray border encased by black floral meander stripes surrounds the central pattern and gives the antique carpet a unique appearance. Rug production began in the Southeast Persian city of Kirman during the Safavid period, peaking in the late 19th and early 20th centuries following an increased demand in America for antique kilim rugs.
