Description
This striking antique Persian Malayer carpet circa 1900 features a grid of multicolored geometric medallion designs with a complex border containing angular and flowering vines, flower-heads and herati patterns that completes this bold antique rug. The color palette consists of many shades of blues, beige, green, salmon, red, ivory and brown. Antique Malayer carpets come from the city of Malayer in Iran near Hamadan and were, for the most part, created by individual weavers during the 19th and early 20th centuries.

Message from Seller:
Founded in 1965, Doris Leslie Blau’s rug emporium is the stuff of design legends. For decades it was known as the go-to source for those seeking the best in the unusual antique and avant-garde. Now owned by Nader Bolour, to whom Doris turned over the business, the gallery has not only continued the tradition of carrying the best of antique and vintage pieces, but has also forged ahead to create unique and innovative contemporary and custom rugs as well.
