Antique Persian Meshad Botanic, Beige, Brown and Black Handwoven Wool Rug

Antique Persian rugs enjoy unfaltering popularity and looking at this stunning carpet, we can easily see why. Woven circa 1920 by a skilled artisan, it displays elements characteristic for goods woven in the city of Meshad, located in northeastern Iran. A great care that was put into the smallest of details suggest that it might have been a gift for someone, or maybe it is just a proof of the artist’s great talent. Contrary to many other types of Persian rugs, this one lacks a visible central medallion, which was instead traded for an all over pattern. The main field is covered with tiny flowers connected with each other in the likeness of a meadow. The frame surrounding it shares the motif, but displays it in a different fashion – it is composed of regular posies instead of a sea of flowers. Rug’s tasteful color palette includes warm earthy tones of brown and beige with bits of black, which provides a perfect background for the elaborate pattern.
