Antique Persian Tabriz Blue Background Floral Handmade Wool Rug

$ 50,000
  • Description
    Hand-knotted of high-quality wool in accordance with centuries-old techniques circa 1920, this antique Tabriz rug is an example of refined Persian craftsmanship. Its face carries a classic Tabriz design – a botanical lattice with stylized sickle leaves, florals and palmettes. This lush composition is enclosed within a series of ornamental borders kept in the spirit of the main field, with geometricized flowering climbers. Everything is executed in a color palette of light blue, beige and red. Despite being almost one hundred years old, the carpet is distinguished by impeccable condition which is the best proof of its quality. If properly maintained, this Persian Tabriz rug will serve its owners for generations without any signs of wear.

Message from Seller:

Founded in 1965, Doris Leslie Blau’s rug emporium is the stuff of design legends. For decades it was known as the go-to source for those seeking the best in the unusual antique and avant-garde. Now owned by Nader Bolour, to whom Doris turned over the business, the gallery has not only continued the tradition of carrying the best of antique and vintage pieces, but has also forged ahead to create unique and innovative contemporary and custom rugs as well.
