Bessarabian (Eastern European) rugs are easily recognizable thanks to lacy floral patterns executed in a slightly folkloristic and whimsical manner, very often displaying shades of red, beige and green against a dark or simply black background. This antique Russian Bessarabian rug is classic in terms of both design and execution.

The early 20th-century Russian Bessarabian antique rug has a maize field with rows of subtle reciprocal floral motifs within a chocolate brown border with an elegant leafy vine. This balanced and versatile design is complemented by impeccable workmanship. The antique Bessarabian rug’s body was carefully hand-knotted out of the finest wool which ensured its longevity. If maintained properly, this Russian rug will withstand years of usage without any signs of wear, bringing in a note of romanticism and never-fading charm.
