Authentic Persian Kirman Green Blue Brown Handmade Wool Rug

This late 19th century blue Persian rug features an intricate all-over design of ochre split leaves, flowers, and leafy vinery surrounding two small cusped medallions against a field of slate blue. The main border in rust contains floral sprays and ochre cypresses for a classic Oriental rug look. Rug production began in the Southeast Persian city of Kirman during the Safavid period, peaking in the late 19th and early 20th centuries following an increased demand in America for Kirman Persian rugs.
