A quite rare type of rug from the western foothills of the Middle Atlas, northwest of the city of Boujad, attributed to the Beni Zemmour or Zaer tribes.

Beyond the obvious influences from the urban workshop rugs of Rabat, the design is full of unique and whimsical details - human figures and animals, including an eight (!) legged camel.

A very high quality example with lustrous wool, fine structure and elegant surface, preserved in very good condition.
