Description
Made with the greatest care and precision, this elegant mid-century modern rug takes the finest elements of the venerable rug craft and puts them in a more contemporary context. The allover botanical pattern with floral medallions is enhanced by stripes running from the top to the bottom of the pile, sometimes overlapping and blending with the flowery motifs. This blooming composition, especially the openwork medallions, is reminiscent of Indian design art which was heavily inspired by magnificent gardens of Rajas. The modern element is introduced by the toned color palette of profound brownish-purple and mauve which work together like a dream. The rug’s soft and firm pile was thoroughly hand-tufted of the finest wool in accordance with centuries-long weaving techniques. Such making is a guarantee that the piece if treated properly, will serve its owners for generations without a sing of wear. This Indian-inspired traditional area rug will find its place both in classic and contemporary interior decors, however, it will absolutely shine in a Hollywood Regency arrangement. Floral motifs never go out of fashion, especially in such a chic edition. Doris Leslie Blau carries an exceptional collection of original modern rugs in many styles and materials. Contemporary hand-made rugs are a bridge throughout history, they are the fruit of the constant evolution of the weaving craft that has accompanied men since the dawn of civilization.
