Early 20th Century Indian Agra Oriental Blue, White Handmade Cotton Rug

$ 3,000
  • Description
    Agra indian oriental rugs have been prized for their rare beauty for centuries by both Indian rajah and later English gentry. Many of them managed to survive until our times, despite harsh conditions in their home country, allowing us to admire and desire them. No wonder that they are so sought-after by both antique carpet aficionados and collectors! This particular piece immediately draws the eye. Made of highest quality Indian wool by a skilled artisan, it was woven around 1920's, yet remains in mint condition. The north Indian rug features a fascinating allover design which was probably inspired by a rug in Europe. Central field and border boast the same design but are separated by a delicate chain of small flowers. The color palette of the rug is a classic one - we have an elegant white background with elements in the color of stunning Indian indigo.
