Elegant Vintage Japanese Silk Kimono with Shibori Band Design
-
Description
A Japanese formal silk Kimono in a light blue color with striking floral design. The garment is hand-stitched from a crepe like silk and dated to circa 1940-60s. The garment is sparsely but effectively decorated with bands of chains of daisies, achieved with delicate shibori (tie dye) technique. The vertical bands were placed intentionally in an asymmetrical pattern on both the front and back. With one long chain on the body part paired with a short one on the opposite sleeve. This placement created an interesting visual effect itself. The darker indigo blue color contrast artistically with the lighter blue background. The garment is lined interiorly with a thin silk.
The kimono can be worn as a bespoken fashion piece nearly couture quality, or simply used as a modern wall hanging. - More Information
