Description
While antique Indian rugs were largely inspired by traditional weaving and art, many artisans were interested in solutions that came to India from Europe - especially the United Kingdom. This cultural exchange allowed both sides to create truly unforgettable antique rugs and forever changed our approach to weaving and design. Doris Leslie Blau is always trying to bring the charm enclosed in antique carpets closer to our clients. We opened our galleries in multiple locations in order to let you experience the sheer beauty of Indian Agra rugs with your own eyes. This exquisite Indian rug is a perfect mix of tradition and novelty. Woven by hand in the early 20th century, circa 1920, it astonishes with its modern pattern, undoubtedly inspired by Art Deco movement. Not even a line is out of place here. Abstract geometric shapes are placed symmetrically and mirrored to bring some order to this chaotic composition. Color palette accompanying this antique Indian rug, contains mostly sandy shades of delicate beige, with a bit of black and caramel brown. Specks of other hues help the composition to gain more depth, especially when contrasted with much calmer colors. The size of this piece, 6'0" × 8'4" (183 × 254 cm), makes it a great choice for any interior, from bedroom to dining room. Allow yourself for a bit of Oriental luxury with this exquisite Agra rug.
