This Persian Kirman (Kerman) antique rug, was made in the late 19th century. Its caramel main field carries a finely-woven dense overall pattern of floral motifs in blues and beiges, enclosed within a sand floral spray border.

As befits an antique rug from Kirman, this one was thoroughly hand-knotted out of high-quality wool according to traditional techniques, which resulted in its durability as well as the soft and luminous pile. Despite its old age (made circa 1880), this antique Kirman rug looks as if it just came down from the looms. Under the condition of proper maintenance, it has a chance to serve its owners for generations without the slightest signs of wear, bringing in its irrepressible oriental charm.
