Description
Flower motif Seychour Caucasian runner
Caucasus, 20th Century
Height 338cm, width 100cm
This intricately designed Seychour runner showcases the signature precision and saturation of its origin.
The rug’s muted, dark yellow central panel is embellished with stylised floral motifs, drawing inspiration from classic rose cabbage design. Rich blues and reds dominate amongst these motifs, accented by subtle white details, creating a striking contrast with the yellow backdrop.
Four sequential borders, each boasting a distinct background colour and pattern, frame the central panel. The patterns found adorning these frames exhibit an impressive array of geometrically constructed floral motifs, honouring Seychour's tradition of diversity. The borders progress outwards in a mesmerising array of blue, red, white, and deep brown, interrupted by intricately patterned friezes that add depth to the whole rug’s composition.
The floral motifs in the frames echo the saturation of the border backgrounds, creating a thoughtful colour interplay reminiscent of the diversity of hues found in amongst a garden’s blossoms, enhancing the design.
This Seychour runner, embodying the meticulous craftsmanship and design traditions of East Caucasus rugs, blends detailed precision with a beautiful colour scheme. Its addition to a hallway or drawing room would not only bring an element of remarkable decorations but also comfort. -
