Description
This vintage rug is a fruit of the exceptional craftsmanship of weaving masters from the faraway Samarkand. Formerly woven for, inter alia, Buddhist monks to pray on, Samarkand rugs are very often characterized by lengthened sides, just as the one before your eyes. Its intriguing design incorporates five bold vase motifs filled with almost ethereal, delicately drawn plants.
The series of borders is strongly outlined, however, the botanical pattern inside is as gentle as the floral motifs in the main field. The balanced and elegant color palette is based on a warm caramel shade, complemented by touches of beige and stronger brown accents. In terms of execution, the exotic antique carpet is absolutely impeccable. Aptly hand-knotted of the first-rate wool in accordance with old and refined waving techniques by a skilled artisan, the Samarkand carpet has survived until this day in perfect condition which is the best testament to its quality. If properly maintained, it will serve its owners for generations without any signs of wear, bringing in the warmth and charm of the Oriental design art. -
