Dhurrie, a traditional Indian rug, has been characteristic of India for centuries. These relatively light but durable weavings are impenetrable to silverfish and other insects responsible for destroying carpets. Dhurries are an important part of Indian culture – they have always transcended social boundaries by serving in houses of poor and rich alike. This large, vintage Indian rug dating back to circa 1945 displays a classic design. Its main field is adorned with stylized small squares and enclosed with three decorative borders. The rug consists of pastel shades of purple, taupe and beige.
