Description
Dhurrie rugs are deeply rooted in Indian tradition. These relatively light but durable weavings are impenetrable to silverfish and other insects responsible for destroying carpets. Dhurries are an important part of Indian culture – they have always transcended social boundaries by serving in houses of poor and rich alike.
The vintage Dhurrie before your eyes is simple and classic. Its main filed carries an allover pattern of stripes in blue and beige.
This vintage Dhurrie, made circa 1955, has survived until this day in excellent condition due to refined workmanship. It was carefully hand-woven out of natural materials by a skilled artisan in accordance with centuries-old techniques. Provided minimum amount of care, the flat-weave will withstand many years with no signs of wear, being the centerpiece of any décor.
This is Indian Dhurrie Rug number BB7963 in our internal collections. This rug was manufactured around 1955 in India, which means it is already 69 years old.
The dimensions of this rug are: 10'8" × 12'3" width × length, which corresponds to 325 × 373 cm in the metric system. This rug comes from the "Vintage" era of carpet production.
The rug pattern most used colors are: Beige and Blue, and as a rug was qualified by our experts as a Dhurrie style in our wide offer of rugs. If you are interested in this unique work of art, please contact us with the number BB7963 for further information.
