Description
of Sultanabad, also known as Arak, belong to one of the finest and most renowned Persian carpets in the world. The weaving center was established in 1808 to become the birthplace of incredibly qualitative and artistic pieces, such as the antique Persian Sultanabad rug before your eyes. Its magnificent appearance speaks for itself and even a layman could tell that the pile is distinguished by astounding firmness while the design is refined in every detail.
This antique Sultanabad Persian carpet was masterfully hand-knotted of the first-rate wool in accordance with centuries-old weaving techniques by a skilled artisan, who applied an extremely high knot density in order to obtain such level of intricacy. The main field proudly bears a dense allover botanical pattern with pronounced palmettes surrounded by meandering vinery, foliage and flower heads. The equally compelling series of borders is kept in the same spirit, enclosing and completing the entire design with further palmettes, flowering climbers and millefleur.
This thriving composition is toned down thanks to the elegant color palette comprising of chestnut brown, beige, dark slate gray, mauve as well as enlivening touches of burgundy. Due to its timeless appeal and ultimate sophistication, the antique Persian Sultanabad rug will easily fit into a wide variety of interior arrangements, from classic to contemporary. -
