Description
Although Samarkand means “Stone Fort”, behind this harsh name stand some of the most intriguing, free-spirited and sophisticated carpets in the world. The antique rug before your eyes is a prime example of astounding Samarkand craftsmanship which has been honed for ages by various influences from almost every existing oriental weaving culture. The main field of this treasure of the past bears frugal design of bold medallions and geometric motifs accompanied by subtle flower heads. It is enclosed and enhanced by a series of extremely compelling and diverse borders, each of which carrying a different oriental pattern, from flowering climbers, through kilim motifs to architectural symbols with a distinct Chinese vibe. The color palette composed of washed-out beige, rosewood, pale peach and ebony brown shades is utterly tasteful and elegant. This vintage was masterfully hand-knotted of the finest wool in accordance with old and refined weaving techniques which shows in its durability and firmness. It will serve its future owners for generations without any signs of wear, just as it has until now. Due to the versatile appeal and undisputable taste, the vintage round rug will without a doubt match any kind of contemporary décor.
