One-of-a-kind Antique Floral Needlework Carpet

$ 10,000
  • Description
    This antique needlepoint rug is a rare treat for the connoisseurs of traditional art and craft. Its body is composed of hundreds of thousands of stitches made using a sewing needle and wool yarn on an open grid cotton fabric called a “canvas”. Although needlepoint rugs are pile-less, this method of execution results an intriguing texture which you can feel under your fingers.

    This early 20th-century needlepoint rug has an oatmeal field carrying two rows of enlarged leafy floral bouquets, each within a subtle ivory lacy oval frame.
    Although made a hundred years ago, the antique rug remains in perfect condition until this day thanks to high-quality materials and thorough manual execution. If properly maintained, it will withstand years of usage showing no signs of wear.
