    This antique Oushak is a spectacular display of geometric patterns and quintessential Oriental designs against a field of gold. are renowned for their silky, luminous wool and a weaving pattern that employs traditional tribal techniques, namely the use of larger knots and an all-wool foundation. Oushak carpets are some of the finest Turkish carpets, so much so that many of the masterpieces of the 15th and 16th centuries have been attributed to the Oushak tradition. The late 19th century saw the Renaissance of antique rug production, and at this time Oushak re-surfaced as a preeminent center of the weaving industry. This antique Oushak Runner carpet stands out in its design as well as shape. Many weaving centers have produced runners specifically for narrow spaces, adapting their age old designs to suit this specific format. Antique carpet runners are often utilized as a complement or a contrast to adjacent rugs, or as the transition linking two separate rooms.
