One-of-a-kind Early 20th Century Karabagh Handmade Wool Runner

$ 20,000
  • Description
    The second half of the 19th century was a heyday of Karabagh weaving and the antique Karabagh rug before your eyes is a fruit of this golden period. The runner’s main field carries an allover pattern of an abstract geometric motif arranged in diagonal rows within a multi stepped border. The color palette is rich, featuring tones of beige, blue and red against a dark background. It is customary for Caucasian rugs to have lighter motifs presented against a dark (brown or black) background. The rug was carefully hand-knotted out of wool in accordance with traditional techniques. If provided proper care, it will withstand years of usage without any signs of wear.
