Persian Sultanabad

$ 35,000
  • Description
    A hand-knotted wool antique Persian Sultanabad rug dating back to circa 1920. The pattern incorporates two classic Persian designs, a classic Persian flower garden and the traditional tree of life design. The flower garden design incorporates vertical flower and bush motifs that stretch from one side of the carpet to the other. The tree of life design is showcased by the multiple weeping willow motifs rising from the beige background. This motif is prominent in Persian textiles and symbolizes the connection between life and our earth. Encircling the tranquil field design is an intricate, multi-level border. This border is home to paisley, scrolling floral vines along with a Herati motifs. The rug is rendered in navy, red, green, light blue and beige.
