A Swedish hand-woven wool rug designed by Ulla Parkdal with woven initials (UP) at a lower corner. It is in excellent original condition, consistent with age. The rug features geometric pattern composed of successive rectangles in various shades of beige, brown, blue, gray, taupe and yellow. The Northern European lifestyle focuses on cultivating a life that is mindful and joyful. A lack of clutter and emphasis on highly functional, streamlined items lends to this attitude. Organic shapes and natural materials are prominent elements of Scandinavian design. It stems from a culture of living in small rural communities that were generally isolated, requiring reliance on natural materials.
