Swedish Flat Woven Rug by Ulla Pakdal

$ 12,000
  • Description
    A Swedish hand-woven wool rug designed by Ulla Parkdal with woven initials (UP) at a corner. It is in excellent original condition, consistent with age. The design is geometric, with successive rectangles in contrasting shades of blue, navy, green, purple, aqua-blue, turquoise, beige and deep brown. The Northern European lifestyle focuses on cultivating a life that is mindful and joyful. A lack of clutter and emphasis on highly functional, streamlined items lends to this attitude. Organic shapes and natural materials are prominent elements of Scandinavian design. It stems from a culture of living in small rural communities that were generally isolated, requiring reliance on natural materials.

Message from Seller:

Founded in 1965, Doris Leslie Blau’s rug emporium is the stuff of design legends. For decades it was known as the go-to source for those seeking the best in the unusual antique and avant-garde. Now owned by Nader Bolour, to whom Doris turned over the business, the gallery has not only continued the tradition of carrying the best of antique and vintage pieces, but has also forged ahead to create unique and innovative contemporary and custom rugs as well.
