    A late 19th century Ghiordes carpet from Turkey having a beige field with an allover blooming flower stems, large palmettes and split-leaves in red, light blue, black and salmon. The rare composition is framed by a broad border of crabs and palmettes and other highly ornamental motifs on outer border. 
    Turkish rugs from the Anatolian town Ghiordes are known for their rectilinear, colorful, multi-bordered antique patterns. Ghiordes rugs often have open fields with mihrabs or hanging lamps and stylized architectural motifs that are found on sixteenth and seventeenth century Ottoman court rugs.
