Mid-Century Persian Pictorial Hamadan Rug
-
Description
A vintage Persian Hamadan rug handmade during the mid-20th century with a pictorial depiction of what seems to be a historical figure on his horse surrounded by 4 large peacocks and other smaller animals. Folk pieces like this are woven by village weavers who often work from their imagination rather than a portrait, graph paper, etc. making it hard to determine exactly what historical figure and/or story the weaver intended to draw. An absolute conversational piece you can enjoy talking about with guests. Folksy, quirky, yet, very decorative.
