Price Upon Request
  • Description
    The Netherlands
    16th century, 1575 – 1600

The beautiful Dutch Slipware bowl was made at the end of the 16th century in the Northern part of the Netherlands, probably in the city of Alkmaar.
The center is glazed yellow, and the rim brown, decorated with yellow and green glazed slip in relief.

These bowls/plates were used for cooking, as is visible on the back. The back is blackened from the fire. But also for serving and displaying food on the table.
These days, it can be used as a fruit bowl.

None of these pieces has survived the centuries; all have been excavated. So is this piece, which has been professionally restored.
