Description
A collection of hobnail cut English glassware
English, 20th Century
Tazza: Height 15cm, diameter 24.5cm
Two bowls: Height 6cm, diameter 7cm
Consisting of two decanters with stoppers, hobnail cut, a pair of low cut glass salts, a jug, a small decanter with handle, a wide flat-lidded jar, a tall curved slender flask and a larger tazza, or flat-open dish, these fine glass wares were made in England in the course of the twentieth century.
The decoration throughout is predominantly in so-called hob-nail cut fashion, though the slender, curved decanter and the tazza stand out for their smooth surfaces and engraved decoration: the flask with beautiful bird imagery, the latter with floral motifs.
Serving a variety of functions, each piece shown is beautifully designed, engraved, and decorated, with various forms of engraving and embellishments, to offer a fine glass collection in a charming and understated English fashion. -
