A Lavish French Empire Ormolu Surtout De Table, C. 1815,
Attributed to Pierre-Philippe Thomire.
A magnificent quality and very large four-section ormolu bronze table plateau / surtout de table from the French Empire period. The quality of the ormolu is jewel-like.
Elegantly and richly decorated with geometric-patterned borders throughout, the sides of the mirror embellished with grapevine patterns on column-form feet adorned with a female face.
Mirror segments are original, backed with wood, and fit into each other to form a long, oval piece.
4" high x 106.5" long x 25.5" deep
Very good condition throughout, normal wear consistent with age and use. Each segment of the mirror exhibits minor tarnishing; otherwise great condition and ready to place. -
