Description
Japanese black lacquer covered round sweetmeat box with takamakie (raised lacquer), MOP and ceramic inlay design of wheels half submerged in a flowing stream- a motif popular in Heian times (794 - 1185), when people would submerge cart wheels in water to prevent them from drying out.
