Description
A pair of Japanese decorative ceramic plates, made in Arita for export market circa 17-18th century. The cabinet-display dishes feature lotus-petal gilt rim and a lavish tricolor enemal glaze decoration on a grey-white background. The center medallion showcases a low-relief molded Qilin, an auspicious and mythological animal from Far East. It is surrounded by large orange camellias and styled foliage. The outer ring is decorated with a row of Yuyi clouds in mushroom head shape. Th exteriors of the dish is also decorated with floral arrangement.

Small bit on edge of one, only to the feel of the finger. Kiln crackles on one base, all as shown.
