$ 22,500
  • Description
    20th century Peruvian silver tea and coffee set by Camusso
    Peru, Early 20th Century
    Tray: Height 5cm, width 78cm, depth 45cm
    Teapot on stand: Height 48cm, width 23cm, depth 21cm

    Beautifully designed and made, this sterling silver eight-piece tea and coffee set was manufactured by a Peruvian maker, Carlo Mario Camusso.

    The set is formed of a coffee pot, teapot, a large hot water kettle on a stand with a burner, a milker, pair of tongs, and two sugar bowls. An ornate tray with twin handles is part of the set, on which all other pieces can be displayed.

    All pieces stand on four feet, topped with foliate forms and of an outward-curving form. Of bulbous form, the pieces are designed in the Rococo style, popular in the 18th century. Long and ornate spouts feature on the kettle as well as tea and coffee pots. Intricately cast handles adorn some of the pieces, the design of each including scrolling motifs. The covers of the pots, sugar bowl, and kettle terminate with a superbly cast scroll motif and are of a fluted form.

    This exquisite sterling silver set is fully hallmarked and inscribed with ‘INDUSTRY PERUANA / PLATA ESTERLINA / 925 CAMUSSO’.

    All pieces weight approximately 8,500 grams.
