Description
Beginning with a ball of clay, the artist pinches it into vessels and textures it with stone fragments.
After multiple firing it was finally lustered with 22K gold. I
Its volcanic-like outer wall seem almost protective of its precious gold and platinum center. The vessel attracts and contains ambient light which gives it a spiritual presence.
Cristina Salusti attended both Tufts University and Manhattanville College, where she received her BFA, along with an MFA in Art and Education at Columbia University. Her professional career as a sculptor and ceramist includes numerous exhibitions and awards, among them a Fulbright Fellowship in Italy, a Pollack-Krasner grant, a Macdowell Colony residency, and a residency at the invitational Stone Carving Symposium in Iwate-ken, Japan. Led Free. Signed and dated. -
