English Edwardian Exotic Palm Tree & Camel Imperial Centerpiece 1902
-
Description
Edwardian sterling silver exotic centerpiece. Made by Dobson & Sons in London in 1902. Entwined palm trees rooted in granulated soil on domed base. The fronds provide scanty shade to the camel guarded by two men in native garb, sword and scythe at the ready. Dinner party exoticism evocative of some or other colonial outpost from the days when the sun never set on the British Empire. Fully marked. Very good condition with toning to gilt wash.
