Description
Fausto Melotti (Rovereto 1901 - Milan 1986) was an Italian sculptor, painter and musician. He was born in Rovereto when it belonged to the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and he attended the Royal Elizabethan School. At the outbreak of World War I, he moved to Florence, where he came into contact with avant-garde literati and artists and had the opportunity to closely observe the works of Florentine Renaissance artists such as Giotto, Simone Martini, Sandro Botticelli, Donatello and Michelangelo. After various musical studies, he decided to devote himself to sculpture. His style changes over the years, but he always follows his very personal research, aimed at articulating space according to rhythms with a musical flavor. Decorative dishe in various colors of enameled ceramic, an object that Fausto Melotti produced in a great amount with always different and unique shades. Excellent condition, completely original. Pavilion is the collective vision of Deborah Colman and Neil Kraus, both graduates of the master of fine arts program at the Art Institute of Chicago. From a longstanding interest in art and design, frequent buying trips to France and Italy have influenced the direction of the gallery to offer items that are not easily sourced in Chicago and United States. Postwar design has been the focus for 18 yrs and we also look forward to new design that crosses boundaries and dialogues as well to the past
