Description
Gertrud and Otto Natzler Large Volcanic Bowl 1955c.
Earthenware with Grey Earth Crater glaze.
Dimensions:
5.25 h × 9.75 dia in
Signed to underside ‘Natzler’.
Description:
A beautifully balanced example featuring a richly textured volcanic glaze with subtle horizontal banding encircling the form. The layered striping, ranging from warm earth tones to deeper charcoal hues, enhances the sense of depth and movement across the surface—an effect characteristic of the Natzlers’ most successful reduction-fired works.
Condition:
Very good condition overall. The surface displays characteristic burst glaze bubbles and pitting inherent to the volcanic firing process and original to the making. A small area along the inner wall near the rim shows minor accretions from the firing process, visible only upon close inspection. No structural issues; presents exceptionally well. -
