Description
German silver miniature watering can. Imported to England in 1891 by Lewis & Son. Drum form with plain high-looping handle and diagonal spout. Cover flat with bracket handle and cutout lunette for filling. Chased olden-days pastoral scenes with men in breeches tending the garden. A sweet ornament with metaphorical potential. German fineness stamp (930) Hanau maker’s marks as well as English sterling-standard import marks including London assay stamp. Very good condition.
